Great location for Gatwick and used the 5.45am shuttle to get my flight. The location is slightly remote from the town centre so it was the hotel non a la carte Morgan's Pub/Bar for an evening meal. Good pasta and chicken but the pint of Guinness at 6.50-captive audience I guess. Room booked through Bookings.Com. BUT if you choose that route there is no discounted deal on car parking which is offered by direct booking. The underground car park has no lift. Essential to drop bags/suitcases off at reception first, then go and park the car.Return shuttle is a problem if there is only one person. I made the request when I landed and had the mistake of confirming there was only me. No shuttle availability although on returning to the hotel there it was sitting outside the foyer entrance. To get back to the hotel to retrieve my car I could have taken a hotel sponsored taxi by arrangement at 11. The standard non hotel taxi fare is 20,or,as I did catch the train (two stops) for 3.40. It delivers you to the south Crawley platform which has a private link straight into the hotel.

    • Dissappointing stay

We stayed at the Arora the night before our flight, this was the 5th time we have stayed their. We usually enjoy our stay and are made to feel welcome however this time was dissapointing. We arrived and checked in and was told that as a repeat guest we had been upgraded to a premium room, we have been upgraded in the past as a repeat guest. however on arrival at the room we found we had not been upgraded as the room actually seemed smaller than the other rooms we had also no bathnrobes and slippers, no 20% off food and drink an no high speed internet. The room seemed shabby and one of the sockets on the wall was broken and looked dangerous. The carpets in the corridors were warn and threadbear in places. We freshened up and went back down to reception to ask about the upgrade but they were very busy so we then took the cases on the train to the airport to drop them at day before check in. On returning to the Arora we found a notice on the gate from the platform saying the bell was not working and to telephone reception for them to iopen the gate. My husband telephoned several times before anyone answered, he explained we were on the platform and needed the gate opening the person said ok put the phone down and did not iopen the gate so he had to ring again it took 20 minutes bdfore we finaly got someone to open the gate. Once again reception was very busy so we decided not to bother about our upgrade. On returning to collect the car 2 weeks later we found the bell had still not been repaired however it did not take as long this time to get someone to open the gate. I would have booked for next year however the price has increased signifiacntly and given the poor state of some of the rooms and the carpets I feel the increase is not justified. Downstairs is lovely but the rooms and upper floors rewally are starting to look tired and require a refurbishment. I also do not like being told I have been given an upgrade when i clearly havent.

    • This place has gone down hill

The giant ulcer on the wall behind the fountain in the lobby says it all. Surly reception staff. Rooms without real climate control (forget making your room cool). And if you want to use the safe, get down on the floor on your stomach so that the key pad is at eye level. And an absurdly small bed for 2 adults. Next time I'll pay a bit more for something nicer at a different hotel.

A great hotel for business folks. However, for a family stay, it is both overpriced and overdone. Still though, a lovely place to stay with a parking lot as well as access to the train station. 5 star product for sure.

Spacious family room with excellent bathroom facilities. Misleading transfer information on It is not a regular shuttle service and only r ujns according to demand. Ended up paying for taxis from and to the airport. Really lengthy process trying to order room service, having to preauthorise a bank card before ordering and then no communication between reception and the bar. Took an hour for the food to arrive. :(
