Stayed there for one night. Arrived early arternoon and parked in the disability parlking space, attached our parking permit and reported to the reception to be told to please move your car, that spot is taken? Explained that I was legally parked in a vacant disabilty parking spot with a permit clearly displayed, only to be told once again to mve as the companies policy is on a first come first serve basis and someone else was using it. OK but your company policy is breaking the law. After taht the receptionist went on and offered to change our room from the first floor to a ground floor position which we gratefully accepted. Room 12 was given to us and we found that this room was a disabilty fitted out room which was modern, very clean and equiped. In fact, one of the best rooms we have encountered. At breakfast the next morning, which was included the range on offer was truly excellent and a staff member was also there to offer warm crossaunts, a great way to start the day. As I was interested I asked how many disability rooms did they have? One only, Room 12, was the answer. That's interesting I said, I am in room 12 and not allowed to use the parking space? She was quick to reply that that was incorrect and the reception had got it wrong, apologizing once again. The hotel is very well situated for the city centre and there is plenty of choice for meals, etc. This was the only glitch in the system and we will be putting Areca on top of out list to stay in Launceston in the future.

Stayed here one night and everything was perfect. Spotlessly clean, modern decor, very comfortable bed and plenty of car parking. There were lots of good choices for breakfast - a selection of fruit, yoghurt, cereals, toast, pancakes, croissants, juices, tea and coffee - a great way to start the new day. Will definitely be back.

Lovely old building in the front with a newer more modern building behind. We were in room 17 in the new part which was just above the dining area so if you like a sleep in, ask for a room away from the dining area as they start at 7.30am so it can get a little noisy. We were fine as we are early risers. Room size was good for us, furniture was in good condition and the bathroom was very clean. We found the king size bed very comfortable. A continental breakfast was included in the price of the room, as part of this they had a nifty self serving Pancake maker, you press a button and about 2 minutes later you have 2 really yummy fluffy pancakes. For us location was great, we were able to walk to town and to restaurants, however it is at the top of a steep hill. The staff were very friendly and helpful.

Thank you Pia & Toni for making our stay at the Areca so enjoyable. We had a nice view from our room and the continental breakfast was fresh and plentiful. The location was about a 10min walk into the CBD. Although I should point out that the hotel is at the top of York St so if you found a walk up the hill a bit of a challenge then you could always take a taxi. We were greeted with a complimentary bottle of bubbles to celebrate our anniversary. Great hospitality would definitely recommend.
