    • Great Location, Poor Service

      Reviewed 04 September 2019

This is the second year we have stayed here. and the best I can say is that. the location just off the little square is terrific but the owner-operators are rather not nice people to deal with. Ask for a second pillow and it will take three tries of going down the stairs to actually get one. Everything is like it's a big deal, they want your money and then to be left alone. We had the smell of smoke pouring into our room through the AC in this non-smoking hotel and when I asked to change the room as we had to shut off the AC in a hot room and could not sleep well we were told that all the room are taken. Then we were told that people are leaving and maybe it will be better. Anything but be put in another location. Having traveled all over Sicily the past three Summers this is also the worst slim pickings breakfast we have encountered and the only one that charges for breakfast as well. Next time we will choose another place where the people who run the hotel care more for their repeat patrons.

    • Paradise in Sicily

Scopello was our first stop after landing in Palermo and the Hotel Torre Bennistra was our first hotel. It was a breath of fresh air after a day of travel. We were very warmly welcomed by a very professional, young Italian woman. The curtains were blowing through the windows with views from every room. The rooms were so quaint. Our room was green, our children had a lilac room. This is one of those very comfortable style hotels with setees and artwork. This is a tiny town and looks like a movie set. Walking distance to swimming and the Zingaro Nature Trail, which was a highlight of our trip. Pepe's sandwiches were to die for. The view from the patio is beautiful. I would not want to go in July, August as I am afraid it is probably overrun by tourists. We hope to return someday.

    • Wonderful Staff

My family and I enjoyed our time in Sicily and stayed at the Torre Bennistra hotel. The drive from Palermo was relatively easy and parking was not too far away. We enjoyed our time immensely and the staff were fantastic and warm to us throughout our stay. We did have a problem with air conditioning in our room with it only working for two of our five nights. This was quite uncomfortable in the summer heat and opening the windows and doors was not an option due to mosquitos. Had the air conditioning in our room worked this would have been a flawless stay.

    • Grand view, excellent food

      Reviewed 12 June 2019

After a glorious week of sightseeing in and around Palermo, we travelled about 1 hour by car to Scopello located near Castellammare del Golfo. We spent four days and three nights at the Hotel Torre Bennistra. We used this stay to hike the neighboring Zingaro National Reserve, to travel to the Island of Motya and to San Vito lo Capo. Our room had an ocean view and what a magnificent view it was. The balcony seems surrounded by the blue Tyrrhenian Sea. The Palermo side of the golf is clearly visible. With this view you can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food in the restaurant is excellent. The owners pride themselves in preparing the dishes a la casalinga, the home-made method. It takes a few more minutes to prepare, but the result is worth the wait. Of course there is outstanding pasta. We especially enjoyed spaghetti with a sauce made from the black ink of a cuttlefish. The melanzani are to die for, stacked slices of a fluffy consistency held together by Sicilian tomato sauce and cheese. We enjoyed fried cacciocavallo cheese. Fish are caught fresh in the golf. Their intense taste is acquired apparently from the water of the golf. We had fish every day and were never disappointed. The hostess was engaging and very friendly. Her 90 year old mother still kept a quick friendly eye on everything too. The local wines, especially the Grillo from the island of Motya, were superb. We have to thank a dear friend who recommended this great location to us and we would like to endorse this recommendation and pass it on to anyone considering a few quiet days on this island.

    • In a nice quiet location with lovely views

      Reviewed 13 April 2019

Situated in a nice quiet location this is a very attractive hotel with a lovely landlady whos family apparently built it about fifty years ago. The rooms at the back have balconies with lovely views of the sea and coast. It is a little dated in some ways, but it has a lovely atmosphere and is well run. Our only minor problem was that none of the staff are very good at English which made it difficult for us to communicate, but they do their best and were very friendly. Sent from my iPad
