    • Sleek and modern welcome respite from the heat

      Reviewed 07 July 2019

We just stayed a couple nights with a large group at the Xenia Philippos in Serres. Our family had a nice, clean large room with plenty of space to spread out and cool down. We enjoyed the morning breakfast included in our stay and the communal areas for guests (lobby, bar, rooftop garden.) My only criticism is the underground pool. It needs a Major update, the two seats available were both broken, and clearer communication as to when its available. Bringing my kids down expecting to swim and being told there is a class in session was a bummer but worse was the actual facility. It doesnt look like it belongs in the otherwise modern, sleek hotel. Not worth docking a star as it is an amenity but still disappointing. The room itself had a balcony perfect for reading in the sunshine. The bathroom was large and the shower had perfect water pressure. It wasnt a fancy room but it was well appointed with anything you would need while traveling abroad. The hotel was quiet and the staff went above and beyond to accommodate requests. A major draw for us was the location as it was easy to walk into town and to and from the nightlife spots (Sinatra Lounge, etc.) If you happen to travel to Serres, I recommend staying at the Xenia!

I visit Serres once a year and I always stay st Philippos hotel for the past 3 years. I enjoy staying at this hotel as it is located in a very nice part of the city in a walking distance to the city center, the staff is friendly and helpful, the rooms are comfortable and clean. I consider the prices are fair enough for the level of the serviced.

Old, smelly, dark rooms. Carpet is disgusting. Actually the all hotel is even running (including the spa) : old and poor. I know this is still one of the best choices in serres (or supposedly to). Hence if you can avoid serres for a sleep over, do it.

We stayed for one night on our way back from Athens and I wish we had arrived sooner. We only got to stay one hour in the spa. The restaurant is on the rooftop and they serve great food. We had a dinner to remember. The hotel and the restaurant staff are well trained and we had a great time. We will definitely return !

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this hotel in the last 10 years and we were extremely happy with it as a newly wed couple and now as a family. Friendly staff and amazing service. It sits just on the outskirts of the main square (10 min walk) and on the outskirts of the taverna district (10 min walk along the path following the river).
