    • Highlight of our trip, but must protect your skin

      Reviewed 16 July 2019

Aldo was fantastic- friendly, knowledgeable about the animals, plants, fish, ecology and history of the area. This was the highlight of our trip. We did the Mayan Route tour. There were only 6 of us on the boat and Aldo stopped often to point out ruins and plants and for animal sightings. We went to cenotes where manatee swam around boat, to mangroves to see orchids, bromeliads and crocs, out to the mouth of the ocean, and floated down a gorgeous fresh water Mayan canal filled with cichlids and Oscars- just like being in an aquarium. The lunch was great- homemade tamales with the best mango ever and a variety of drinks. He also provided drinks and a snack mid-morning that was a nut and honey bar. Aldo is a great ambassador and just generally a good conversationalist. The trip was a very full day and completely worth the price. Be sure to wear plenty of clothing as you cannot use sunblock in the preserve. You will absolutely fry if you don't have a long sleeve shirt and leggings because even though the boat has a shade, the sun reflects off the water and any reef safe block you may have applied in the morning before you left your hotel will be long gone by afternoon. My nose was badly burned despite best efforts. Aldo uses a face cover like skiiers wear. Still, completely worth it.

    • Terrible communication, no customer service

I initially contacted visitSianKa'an June 20 requesting information and reservation for tours. Katrin responded with a cordial and informative email. I responded to get the deposit information and confirm my reservation for July 12 or 13. I never got another email response. I then tried calling the office multiple times to there WhatsApp number with no response. I also texted via WhatsApp after 3 unanswered emails and multiple calls. The response was to get my name for the reservation and pass it along to the office. I was never contacted or responded to again though I continued trying. Ultimately I was not able to go on any tour of the Sian Ka'an which my wife and I were very excited for. For 3 weeks I tried to reserve with no response from visitSianKa'an. Terrible customer service and communication.

    • Thank you so much Aldo

Aldo thank you so much for your tour. This was the best thing about our trip to Tulum. We saw so many different animals and birds, Aldo knows so much about the Reserve and the animals and birds who live here. He's so friendly and really passionate about the wildlife and plants on the reserve. He is also really respectful of the animals and birds who live here. He'd often just turn the motor off on the boat and drift carefully, so not to scare the wildlife. We saw so many different things, Ospreys and their nests, Frigate birds, Pelicans, Various herons and some were nesting, loads of fly catchers and some vultures. We also saw plenty of various fish, a large baracuda fish and crocodiles, one of these was really big. The highlight of the trip was watching a family of manatees by a cenote. They were beautiful and Aldo just turned the boat motor off and we drifted over where they were feeding. We finished by having lunch on the boat, moored just next to a small remote island on the lagoon. Thanks again Aldo, you made our family holiday one to remember!

If you are in Tulum, you must book a tour with Aldo and see Sian Ka'an. Floating down the Mayan canal was one of the most spectacular and truly awe inspiring events in my life. The serenity, calm and beauty that surrounds you is unreal. It is such a joy to just sit peacefully and let the warm current take you downstream. Aldo is an expert guide and a family man. Our whole family enjoyed spending the day with him on his lovely boat. I can't recommend this experience enough! We saw crocodiles, birds, wild orchids and manatees. He is very knowledgeable and respectful of the wildlife in Sian Ka'an.

Wonderful experience to see this amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site! Our guide Aldo was very knowledgeable about the reserve. We learned much about the history, flora and fauna. We took the Mayan canal and snorkeling tour. Unfortunately the sea was too rough for snorkeling on our trip, but we spent some time swimming in the water on a beautiful beach. This is a place rich with history and not to be missed as global warming is threatening the peninsula.
