    • A Charming and Peaceful Resort

We enjoyed our stay at Anema Resort and it has the potential to be a really excellent holiday destination in the future. We were met at the harbour by one of the hotel staff, having taken the fast boat from Bali and driven to the hotel, only 10 - 15 minutes away. The staff were delightful and could not do enough for us and were one of the real strengths of this resort. The room was amazing, having been given a free upgrade to a villa with a private pool, which was spacious, modern and clean. We stayed during an extremely quiet period, with only three other rooms occupied, which made the resort simultaneously extremely peaceful and slightly empty. The hotel currently advertises that it is having a soft opening. From my understanding it opened two years ago, but then had to close following the earthquake in Lombok last year and has just reopened in July this year. There is still some building work ongoing, for which the staff were extremely proactive in apologising for and offered to stop work if it disturbed us, but to be honest I didnt notice it at all. The resort is right next to the beach, but it is not the best beach or swimming that you might have hoped for, so we stuck to the infinity pool instead. There is very little, if anything, within walking distance of the hotel, so we took all our meals at the hotel. The food was ok but with room for improvement and was fine for three nights, but would have become repetitive if staying any longer. We took a diving trip whilst at the hotel. The staff were amazing, but the reef was not the best that you will find with large parts of it appearing to be dead or dying, but nevertheless with lots of sea life to observe. All in all, the Anema Resort was great for three nights, but we were ready to move on somewhere else at the end of our stay and would have been bored to spend any longer here. It does have huge potential, but Im not sure that we would return any time soon, instead trying new locations or returning to old favourites.

Positive side: Staff were very nice and friendly. Negative side: - We arrived at the reception and no one knew we had a booking. We had to wait for half an hour and even then they could not find our reservation. - Gym with very cheap and poor equipment. - We booked for 2 adults and 2 children, breakfast included. However, they asked us to pay for our children whereas on the booking it was included, they said it was an error of the booking company. - We wanted to extend our stay just to avoid moving round from hotel to hotel. We were initially told we could extend our stay. But all of a sudden, after the discussion regarding extra payment regarding the kids breakfast they said there was no space available. However online there were rooms still available. The management argued again that this was a mistake of of the online travel agent. - When we arrived around 3.30 pm the green grass was getting watered. At 6pm there was a pond. So i went to tell the reception about it as this was a waste of water. At 7AM the next day, the watering was continuing. There was so much water in the grass that a fish could have survived there. Once again i went to see the receptionist and asked him to stop it and I was told to check with the restaurant (!). They do not look after the environment. - The bathrooms does not have a note allowing the customer to reuse their towels. Chab

Amazing location, I went here to finish off writing a book and it was the most ideal place. Located right in front of a private beach which is calm and quiet, no outsider people. Food was delicious too, chef must be French? Nice staff, always helpful and friendly. Will come again.

We had a 4 night stay booked through Groupon. It was not a cheap deal but we figured that for a 5* resort with added inclusions it would be worth it. Sadly we were wrong. On check in we were told that the resort is in soft opening. To be fair we didnt ask at that point what it meant and simply assumed there were less people around (staff and guests) The ocean view family villa with private pool was light, spacious and beautifully presented. The beds are really comfortable, the bathroom looks great - but...its just not 5* The toilet was attended to 3 times (unsuccessfully) to try and prevent the leaking around the base, the bath mat was stained, the bath took almost an hour to fill, the shower-head sprayed water everywhere and the drainage was very slow. Several of the light switches are not quite attached securely to the wall. The TV projector wasnt working. The telephone wasnt working - although the manager gave us his personal mobile number to call if we had any issues. The towel rail was too far away from the shower to be useful (had to remember to move the towel closer or walk wet feet on slippery floor!) There was only a very small mat outside near the pool - our grandson almost slipped many times (we ended up leaving a towel down for him to step onto) All of these things may seem minor, and probably wouldnt have bothered us quite so much had we not had to tolerate the building works. Every day. From 9am until 6pm. Power tools and hammering. The work men up stairs in the main building - overlooking our private pool. The main, infinity, pool looks beautiful - no escape from the building noise though. The tile floor around the pool is not swept or cleaned so your feet get really dirty when going between pool and lounger. I spoke to one of the staff in reception about travel to the nearby wildlife park and asked about a trip to see the Gili isles. The price we were given was beyond expensive. I pointed out that we were not happy about all of the building noise, especially as we had not been notified prior to our check in, and that the resort was not as advertised on their own website. There is no gym and the mini golf isnt available yet either. I asked where the playground was - as the website stated there was one - no playground (subsequently removed from the website!) The staff here are definitely a redeeming feature. The restaurant staff were lovely and very attentive (although we mostly ate alone!) The food was good and not too expensive. My husband was taken quite ill (no fault of the resort) and the manager was very helpful and I was extremely relieved when he suggested a member of staff accompany us to the local hospital. We really appreciated his presence at that tough time. The welcome massage became another bone of contention. I told reception staff that we had one full body massage each as part of our package. The man told me it wasnt written on the voucher. After checking together (none of the inclusions were listed) I showed him the web page showing all of the details. His response well, its not on the voucher Hardly customer service of the year! I did have the welcome massage and was pleasantly surprised when the masseuse told me I could have 30 mins as my husband was too sick to have his. It was very nice, beside the ocean. I think that much more could/should have been done to appease us considering what we paid versus what was actually delivered. This resort is not yet at a 5* standard and lacks many of the services it advertises but, regardless, continues to charge 5* prices. Very, very disappointing. Maybe in 6 months or a year it will be fully functional, we will not return.

We stay 3 days for weekend escape with family. We choose to stay here rather than gilis island, because the location just perfect, they are close with 3 Gilis Island and we take option to visit gilis by speed boat for our day trip only and stay back in hotel for relax. Woke up in the morning with amazing sunrise (see in the picture) and enjoy our breakfast with a cup of coffee.. Staff very friendly and helpful, And the dinner by the beach very recommend 3 days was not enough... definitely will be back and spend more longer here to explore
