    • A wonderful return visit.

We booked our accomodation on spur of the moment and our short getaway was one of the best experiences we have had. This was our third visit and our room was super comfy with everything we needed, even complimentary bottles of water. The room overlooked the adults only pool so it was handy to the pool and restaurant. We loved the fresh slices of watermelon served by the pool as it was quite warm on the days we stayed at the resort. Breakfast was another highlight, with barista made coffees and bubbles available as part of accommodation. Im looking forward to our next visit!

    • Great but a little disappointed

My husband and I stayed for 7 nights last week. Overall it was lovely, some downfalls in customer service dampened our stay and if they were revisited would have provided an exceptional experience for us. Upon arriving for our check in, the young lady on reception was on the phone (to another guest) and whilst waiting for them to make a decision on something, proceeded to check us in. Not amazing customer service. Our room was spotlessly clean and house keeping did an amazing job throughout the week of maintaining such a high standard. We received a dismal complimentary fruit basket on our second day, the quality of the strawberries was very disappointing and being 7 months pregnant completely inedible. Buffet breakfast was great each morning, to Rodney your customer service was exceptional and made our stay very memorable, knowing our orders and your attention to detail was amazing so thank you!!! One afternoon we lazed by the adults pool, there were 3 couples including ourselves. One couple ordered food and drinks by walking inside the main dining room to order and when their food/beverages were delivered the waiter proceeded to leave the pool area without asking the other couple and us if wed like anything. This incident happened again and on the third time I mentioned it to the waiter who did aplogise and told me how busy they had been inside (not my problem, your job is customer service and you are in charge of the pool area, please do your job). The week before school holidays wasnt that busy, we saw the change in numbers. The spa was lovely, we visited multiple times throughout the week and were always provided with an exceptional level of customer service. My biggest wish of the resort is to have more of a focus on sustainability. To provide guests with single use plastic water bottles every day is very wasteful. On a recent trip overseas the resort provided guests with reusable drink bottles and provided refillable stations around the resort, is this a possibility? The sugar for breakfast is wrapped in plastic, surely this can be changed? The slippers that are provided to guests in their room and spa and also wrapped in plastic - seems very wasteful and not in line with your message of keep Port Stephens beautiful when asking guests to consider reusing towels etc... Overall we did have a lovely week but were disappointed on numerous occasions with the customer service. I look forward to possibly seeing a positive approach to reducing single use plastic within the resort so guests can continue to keep Port Stephens so beautiful.

Returning to The Anchorage after 18 months, we actually thought it felt even better! The garden room that we were able to book, was clean and well-appointed. It was convenient to the restaurant and light, bright and airy. We ate at the Gallery and found the food to be delicious and well-presented. A quiet drink at the bar upstairs was a lovely way to end the day. I don't think we will wait 18 months for our next visit.

    • Great hotel

From the moment I arrived until the moment I left, I enjoyed the simple luxury of the hotel. I had a loft atrium suite. The view over the marina was great, although I did wonder if the cormorants and pelicans were aware of the signs which said "No swimming and diving". The highlights were seeing wild pelicans for the first time and feeling decadent sitting on the balcony, in my bath robe, drinking my coffee and watching the marina coming to life. Breakfast was very good with a large selection and was enough to last most of the day. I live in the UK, so it is rather a long way for a return. the big bonus was that there was no mention of Brexit.

The Anchorage is beautiful. We were met by a very friendly staff member (Rob) and given complimentary champagne - pretty nice! The room is luxurious, spacious and with a lovely view. We had a drink in the bar during happy hour and the bar tender was also very friendly. You can sit and enjoy your drinks in a number of places - booth, couch, high table and chair. I am looking forward to breakfast tomorrow!
