    • Great option in a great Cumbria town

      Reviewed 26 August 2019

Great location, close to everything. Pleasant atmosphere. Very private. Clean, spacious room. We had a family room, 1 queen and 2 singles. There were 2 comfy chairs, a table with coffee/tea makings, side tables by the beds, a wardrobe, and it didn't feel crowded. Bed was comfortable. Small dormer window, but view over the rooftops was nice. Private bath for our room was across the hall from bed room. This was a bit different, but we had the key, so assured no one else could use it. It was huge! Full bath tub with shower, sink, toilet, and enough room to dance between them. Very hot water. All in all, a very nice stay. Highly recommend. No lobby, you check in at the restaurant next door, no onsite staff. TV didn't work. No parking at site, 10 minute walk. To unload you just kinda pull off the street a bit and make yourself skinny and hope you get done quickly. It was a bit confusing (Not unique to this property, limited parking in the village, very narrow streets, etc). It was a bit noisy when pubs close. People talking in the street loudly into the wee hours. Overall we enjoyed staying there. Tons of great dining options from next door to the end of town, a whole 15 minute walk away. Grocery store 2 minutes.

    • Certainly central !

Stayed here for 2 nights, booked 3 rooms for 3 families for the Lakeland 50/100 weekend. Rooms were ready at 1pm so we could check in early, my hubby was running 50 miles so he asked for the quietest room. This was on the 3rd floor up steps but nothing too strenuous, the room was very quiet & you cant hear a sound coming from the town when the window is shut so hubby happy about this. The double bed was very comfy maybe should have brought my own pillow but not too much of a problem. Our private bathroom was 2 steps across the corridor it was huge again no complaints. This place is certainly central to the town, there is Greggs across the road for a quick breakfast or loads of cafes open we went to Apple Yard & Freshers for breakfast both excellent. Downstairs is the bar The Lily we went here both nights & had live music on till late. Beds were made on 2nd day which I wasnt expecting. Checked out easily enough & didnt have to check out until 11 I think, so if you are looking for a place that is central & a comfy bed for the night you cant go wrong here, would definitely stay again !

No reception has to register and pick keys from nearby restaurant. No lift. Very central though. Room was with private toilet/shower and all was clean. Unfortunately you don't have a breakfast option... you'll have to look for that elsewhere.

Stayed at this place Friday and Saturday 05th and is fantastic. Bathroom doors can't be opened so once you finally get in you can have a real good clean as you can't get back out again. Place is great also if your on a diet because you don't get fed. Parking is amazing and free and it's only a 3 mile walk.I remember going in a pub at top of the hill for a nice quiet pint and the landlord was not very welcoming. I noticed him shouting at a group of well behaved young men in the corner he wasnt happy they were constantly farting also some of the customers had to leave as one at the bar had vommitted due to the foul smell coming from them men in the corner. Later that night I noticed a commotion in the Lily bar and it was the farters again. This time they had taken the bar security into their own hands and some local thug got a right Good pasting. Big mistake if he had complained about the lads farting he had been well and truly battered . Overall it was an amazing stay most eventful weekend I've had . I will be returning

Noise level from lily bar live band till 12 was not too bad. Pubs finished and noise bearable, guests staying downstairs not bearable fighting in room slamming doors kicking doors until 2 am. If u want to sleep wrong place to stay. Its noisy and above bar but place is clean wouldn't stay here again though. Places near same price nicer and breakfast not far from us.
