    • I WILL NEVER STAY AGAIN!

I will NEVER stay here again! Beware of hidden charges after you check out! We went above and beyond and out of our way to follow their rules. They disputed this and charged us anyway without our approval or attempting to contact us to get our approval. On top of all of that, we were promised air conditioning in which we did not have in August! And I had to dispute with the owner for one or two extra towels. Also no dumpster available and they ignored us when we tried to turn our trash into them. Thankfully we found a much better option in Estes Park to stay the rest of our visit.

We stayed here in early August 2019. We were very optimistic about having a cabin. Upon entering the cabin, we discovered that there was no air conditioning (even though this cabin listed having air conditioning on the website). Trying to stay positive, we overlooked it and just decided to open the windows. (one without a screen). On the second day, we tried to dispose of our garbage, but no dumpster was available. We sucked it up and just returned to our cabin (uphill) with garbage in hand. On the final day, we did once again try to take our garbage to the office, but were ignored, So once again, garbage left in our cabin. We checked out and all was fine. (So we thought). Upon reviewing the checking account the was used to pay for the room, an additional $150 was charged on the day after we checked out. We called the office and was told it was a cleaning fee because of smoking in the room. We ABSOLUTELY DID NOT smoke in the room. They said they do not charge the extra fee unless we are contacted. (which Amberwood absolutely did not do). They REFUSED to refund our money.

3 1/2 stars - We stayed in the Mountain Home Cabin. The positives: There was more than enough space for everyone. There are 4 beds and 2 bathrooms in the cabin. The kitchen is large enough for multiple people to move around if necessary. There were even two coffee makers (though no coffee). The bedding appeared clean. There is wood for the fireplace if you want to have a fire. The furniture in the living room was dated but seemed clean. The front porch has really nice comfortable furniture, we loved sitting outside listening to the water across the street and watching an elk. Location was great, it is a short drive from RMNP. The negatives: The wifi was so poor it was non-existent. If you are on vacation and want to unplug it is great. Unfortunately one member of our party was on a working vacation and needed internet access. There weren't enough towels, and the ones provided smelled musty. The office was closed on Saturday (I didn't feel towels constituted an emergency enough to call the provided contact number). There was mildew on the shower curtain liner. Someone had put dirty pans back into the cabinets. I usually wash up any dishes anyway just to make sure they are clean. But really didn't appreciate having to scrub someone else's food off of the one decent pan provided before I could use it. There wasn't any bin for recycling. It would have been nice to have a guide in the cabin with instructions on property amenities/local attractions. If there was one we didn't find one. I wanted to address my concerns with the front desk at check out, he was in a conversation with another couple and didn't acknowledge me. After awkwardly standing there for a few moments I finally put the key on the desk and left. With a little attention to details this place would have been perfect.

This is our second exceptional stay here. They have great staff, clean cabins, great location. This visit we got cabin 5, the Hummingbird nest. It had a king bed and an indoor hitting. Bag of fresh ground coffee was a nice touch! Thank you!
