    • excellent as always

Celebrating 25 years and as always was a great evening. The food was exceptional, the ambiance very nice, but due to the low ceiling was noisy. Nothing can be done about the noise level when the ceiling is so low, so I would suggest eating a little later.

    • Supreme Happy Hour

You are the King and Queen (amongst other kings and queens) at the Ski Tip's Happy Hour. We asked our waitress for recommendations and she sure picked the right ones from the wine to the appetizers. The ambiance is the best in the county and you always feel like you've found your slice of heaven in comfort and old world charm here. Always consider extending your visit here to dinner. It's perfect.

    • Loverly rustic lodge and five star dinner.

This was our third visit over last 5 years and wish we could dine there more often. Dining room is charming, service excellent and the dinner is delicious.

We've been a huge fan of the restaurant at Ski Tip Lodge for several yars, always enjoying a very special dinner on our ski trips to Keystone. This early March, 2019, occasion, however, was something of a mixed bag. One starts with high expectations for Ski Tip, but those expectations were not met this year. To start the $80 prix-fixe four-course dinner, I chose an Achiote Shrimp with Greens salad, which was very good. My wife chose a Cheese and Phyllo Roll with greens and a molasses/walnut dressing. The dressing was too thick -- like a blob -- and didn't coat the greens. She found this less than impressive (I concur). For the soup course, I chose the Beef Barley soup, which I thoroughly enjoyed. My wife chose the "Leek & Potato" soup, which she found to be bland. Salt and pepper helped, but the lack of flavor as presented was surprising. For entrees, I enjoyed the Elk Tenderloin. We found the Duck in Orange Sauce entree less than wonderful. The duck was tough and the orange sauce too sweet, causing an imbalance in flavors. Desserts, served in the cozy, fireplace room, were very good. I enjoyed an apple strudel with vanilla ice cream while my wife enjoyed a tasty blueberry/rhubarb sorbet. Service was attentive and up to par. The wine list is excellent and the sommelier can provide good advice in selecting a wine. Bottom line, a mixed bag for this Ski Tip experience. Given expectations and price, the "average" rating here is a fair evaluation, though I'd rate it fair to good if that were an option. Not sure we will return next time at Keystone, as there are plenty of other fine-dining options in the area. Time to explore those......

    • Great dinner, disappointing breakfast

      Reviewed 24 February 2019

Its been there since 1860, so has natural limitations in terms of modern facilities, and in many ways is all the better for it. My room was quirky, but reasonably comfortable, but the heating is variable and theres no TV on property (although the WiFi is fine). The archaic floor layout reflects the age of the building, but the excellent dinner food quality and ambience around the log fireplaces more than compensates. If you like great food with every ingredient explained to you, you will love it. The wine list is a revelation, as is the sommelier service. if you book a room and want dinner, do it at the same time as it has limited space. I left it until check-in and got the very table. Breakfast, however, is a bit of a let down - stuff left in heaters with just eggs/omelettes available to order, and after the grandeur of dinner its underwhelming. I stayed one night and it was an experience; next time might be dinner only.
