      Reviewed 10 July 2019

Stayed 25th July - 9th July 2019. Room 46. Lovely hotel, our large attic room was 4th floor with fabulous views over the village to the Matterhorn, Hotel immaculately clean and with superb facilities, large pool, jacuzzi, salt jacuzzi at 35C, sauna and steam room. Food excellent plentiful and high quality and staff very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately the holiday overall was spoilt by noise firstly from a large building site were another annex is being built in the hotel grounds which started at 7-30am on weekdays finishing around 5-30pm. The noise consisted of shouting, banging drilling sawing stone cutting and amazing vibrations coming from a concrete settling system. This was so bad that we could not use the gardens or our balcony during these times and had to keep the doors shut during this time, which was a sad loss because the weather was so lovely we wanted to sit and relax on our balcony and enjoy the view. The second source of noise was other guests, this hotel caters for large number of Japanese tourists who stay one or two nights, arrive during the evening have a meal and retire. They seem to get up about 5-30am and run around banging on each others doors, shout across the balconies and go down for breakfast about 6-30am slamming their doors thoughtlessly. Some of them even cook food on the balconies. Obviously sleep was very badly affected and took the edge of our holiday. The building work started in January and goes on until December 2019 and I would advise you to avoid this hotel for this period of time, and if worried about noise and getting good sleep I would find another hotel. Be aware Wine Beer and even water are extremely expensive in this hotel. Do not want to serve free tap water with meals. We got cold free beautiful soft water from the Water fountains situated around the town in bottles and kept it in the fridge and bought beer and wine at the local Denner or Coop store for a fraction of the price.

Stayed here one night after the glacier express day tour. Had a bit of a quarrel with the receptionist who wanted us to write down our creditcard detalis on the checkin paper, which I never do. Had a top floor room with marvelous view of the Matterhorn. Spacious room, very good beds, large balcony with view of Matterhorn. Very quiet.

    • Excellent hotel

We stayed a week at the Alpen Resort Hotel and were really impressed by all aspects of the hotel. All the staff from the reception team, the cleaners and the restaurant waiters and waitresses (especially Laura) were of a very high standard. We particularly liked all the spa facilities including the large swimming pool and the salt bath. We were lucky to get the top floor room - 406 - which had fantastic view over the town and the breathtaking sight of the Matterhorn.
